The skeleton and major organs of a Gummi Bear. Now you know.

Toy Description

Clear plastic encases the skeleton and organs of a Gummi Bear. Kit includes 41 pieces to put together.

Dimensions: 8 ½ X 4 X 5 inches

Play

Assemble the bones and guts of this anatomically correct model showing the inner workings of a Gummi Bear.

Observations

Feedback for this toy has been quite positive, and the vast majority of users are happy they got it. With that said, we’ve noticed a good deal of frustration revolving around the assembly process.

Those with experience building models will likely pick up on what to do and where to start right away. Those who have to rely on the instructions may feel a little lost. Not really meant to be step-by-step directions, the instructions give more of a general outline of what to do. Of course, there are only 41 parts, and the toy IS a skeleton, so intuition and educated guesses can get you pretty far.

Assembly typically takes users less than 30 minutes. Some of this time is used up by the fact that the parts are particular about where they should be placed. For instance, we spent quite some time trying to get the left leg to connect together. Lo’ and behold, one of the pieces was actually meant for the right side instead of the left. Once we switched things around, it fit so much better.

If a piece doesn’t seem to be connecting correctly, it might not belong in that spot. Many of the bones look remarkably similar with only small differences in the connection points, so don’t force the parts. Be patient and play with the bone placement. It is a toy, after all.

We know that a number of users have found some connection points are simply loose, even when the correct pieces are being used. If this is a persistent problem during assembly, a little bit of glue can be used to help with stability.

Once the pieces have been placed into the container, it should stay together so long as the toy is not moved. Taking it along for a car ride, changing its position in the room, or bringing it down off the shelf to show friends can easily result in frustration and sadness.

Recommended for ages 8 and up, we think this toy might be more suitable for slightly older children, around 10 and up. The parts are not complicated to put together, just a bit touchy, and younger children may not have the patience needed.

Because of the quick time it takes to put this toy together, we are giving it a lower Engagement score.
