Little Helper Broom Set
A simple broom and hand brush set for kids who want to help clean.

Toy Description

Set comes with toy broom, hand brush, and dust pan. The toys are plastic with the exception of the broom handle, which is made from a hollow metal tube coated in plastic. Each piece has a hole in the handle so the toys can be hung up when not in play, if so desired.

Dimensions: 33 X 10 X 1.37in

Play

Whether cleaning up real or imaginary dirt, children can feel like their efforts to help out really matter. Use the broom to sweep large areas, then switch to the hand brush to get those small spaces.

The broom can also be used to play air-guitar.

Observations

For the most part, users were happy with this set. Children enjoyed being able to mimic the adults around them, as well as receiving praise for helping out with the chores.

Unfortunately, the broom handle broke for a number of reviewers. Depending on how rough the child is with it, and how much weight they put on it, the metal tube inside the handle can bend, and eventually cut through the plastic layer. In several cases, a child stepping on the broom was enough to bend the handle so that it was no longer really useable. We recommend inspecting the broom for exposed metal before each use.

Some users found that they were able to take a wooden handle from another household item and screw it into the broom head. A plunger was the most commonly bought object to switch handles with, as plungers are shorter, making them more kid sized.

The hand brush and dust pan are sturdier, and received no complaints about their durability.

Users report yellow dust sometimes coming off the bristles of the new toys. Shaking them outside seems to help.

Care

Wash in warm water with mild soap

Parts and Pieces

Not applicable. No additional parts are needed.

Concerns

If the broom handle is bent too much, the metal may rupture through the plastic.

The manufacturer states that there is a choking hazard with this toy, but we aren’t so sure about that. Though the bristles are small enough to chew on, this toy is not meant for children so young that they are still tasting everything around them. If bristles do fall off the broom or hand brush, dispose of them.
