Twisty Figure 8 Teether

by Munchkin
current stage2016-02-01

Made of hard plastic with a thin rubber coating, this teether twists around, giving baby something to chew on as they develop their motor skills.

The plastic may seem harder than expected for a teether, and the crevices between the twisting sections may irritate those concerned with regular cleanings, making this teether just so-so. The twisting motion may make it a better toy than a teether.

8 brightly colored sections of plastic form a figure eight that twists in the middle. Two sections are covered in a thin rubber coating. Toy weighs about 3 ounces.

Play

Advertised as a teether, this toy also entertains by twisting on itself, and making a rattle sound.

Observations

As with any teether, some children loved it while some showed no interest at all. The most common complaint from reviewers in in regard to the plastic material. Being thought of as too hard for a teething baby, some reviewers opted for a softer, more rubbery alternative.

We found that babies that did not chew on the toy still often enjoyed playing with the twisting motion and rattle sound.

Parts and Pieces

Not applicable. No additional parts are needed.

Concerns

Teethers are subjective to the specific child, and one baby may reach for the toy that makes another baby cry. With this said, the hard plastic of this toy may not float every baby’s boat.

Cleaning may feel more difficult due to the small spaces between the twisting sections. This toy can be soaked in warm water, but we have noted that those who like to clean toys frequently may become frustrated with this.

We also noted a few reports of the plastic being scraped by new teeth. No injuries were reported.
