Super Soaker Barrage
A basic Super Soaker that gets the job done while holding 2.4L. Though if you're looking for a 90s throw-back, you might want to pass.

Toy Description

Hard plastic soaker carries 2.4L (84oz) of water when completely full and fires with a pump action. The soaker switches between Distance, Scatter, and Flood mode by twisting the nozzle. Distance mode has the longest reach, advertised at around 38ft, though we found that a range of about 25 – 30ft was more accurate.

Play

Use Distance mode to soak targets up to 38ft away. Switching the nozzle to the Scatter mode creates a gentle mist, nice for cooling off in the heat. Going into Flood mode greatly decreases the target distance to about 5ft, and only releases slightly more water than the Distance mode.

Pumping the gun is the only way to fire, as there is no trigger. The force and speed put into pumping helps determine the range of the stream.

Observations

The Barrage is a simple, basic, high-capacity soaker. Users enjoyed how long the soaker can be carried around before needing to refill, making for longer games (and longer rests hiding behind the bushes.)

As is expected with the 2.4L reservoir, this soaker is heavy, and can tire out even the bigger kids.

Distance mode is really the only mode that is useable. We aren’t entirely sure as to the purpose of Scatter or Flood modes. Users said that Scatter mode, which produces three stream of a very fine mist, feels relaxing on the face and is good for cooling down while playing. Flood mode, while releasing a little bit more than Distance mode, only goes about 5ft. So unless firing when very close to the target, we don’t see any advantage to using Flood mode.

The biggest complaint this soaker receives is that it does not have a trigger or the ability to build up air-pressure like older models of Super Soakers do. We are a bit disappointed in Nerf for cutting costs by removing these aspects, and will watch how future models compare.

We noticed that the toy leaks when not held parallel to the ground. Not an issue when being carried outside, but something to consider if refilling at the kitchen sink.

Overall, users reported being completely satisfied with this gun when they purchase it expecting nothing more than a long distance, pump-action squirt gun. If wanting a soaker that is more than that, we suggest looking at another model.

Care

Wipe down with damp cloth.

Wash in warm water and soap.

Avoid leaving in direct sunlight when not in use. Sunlight can cause the plastic to become brittle, increasing chances of the leaks.

Detailed ReviewToy Description
