Plus Plus Midi 100 Piece Construction Set

by Plus Plus
current stage2016-06-03

All the fun and creative play as their smaller version, the Plus Plus Midi is more than twice the size, making it easier for littler hands to get in on the action. Their rubbery texture makes them grip each other, helping them form shapes that curve and bend. Make buildings, animals, or anything else. Create a 3D structure or a flat work of art.

Getting reviews just as great as the Minis, these help develop a number of skills. Building 3D creations challenges spatial thinking, testing how much weight a design can hold or how far a bend can go before falling apart helps with cause-and-effect, while the act of building is a creative way to practice fine motor skills.

Detailed Review

Toy Description

Like their smaller counterpart, the Midi is made of a rubberized plastic, giving it that easy-to-grip feel and helping the pieces stick to each other. Coming in an assortment of colors (red, blue, green, yellow, orange, white, purple, and black), these pieces are 50mm long (2 X 1 ½ inches) and identical in shape.

This set come with 100 pieces, but other sizes are available. We list some in the Parts and Pieces section, below.

Play

There’s no wrong way to enjoy these. Their texture makes them hold together well enough to build curves and bends, giving them different ways of being used than more solidly plastic building bricks, like LEGOs.

The larger size of the Midi makes them easier for small hands to manipulate.

Observations

Just as much fun as the Mini, these larger pieces are easier for younger children to work with. Though both the Mini and the Midi are recommended for children 3 years and up, we found that the Mini is sometimes just a little too small until children reach 5. The Midi is a great alternative, letting younger kids use their imagination while having a little better time getting those fingers to perform the right movements.

The larger size also helps for structures to have a little bit of movement. Nothing major, like a full rotation, but they can sort of seem like they’re moving around because the pieces have some flexibility.

Keep a bag of these in the car, purse, or other take-along, and bring them out in the waiting room, restaurant, or anywhere else where a quiet yet engrossing activity may help pass the time.

Care

  • Wipe down with damp cloth
  • Wash in warm water and mild soap
